The Tetley Weekender | Day 1

The Tetley Weekender will be the culmination of a week long performance art intensive, taking over our gallery spaces from 31 July – 4 August. The Tetley will function as a laboratory to incubate new works and collaborations with twelve artists, six based in South Asia and six based in the UK an open weekend of performance and talks. Over the weekend, participating artists will be invited to present existing work, and, or, present work resulting from new collaborations. Anaccompanying series of talks and open workshops, will be programmed in discussion with participating artists and leaders exploring performance today in the UK and South Asia, unpicking influences from visual art, theatre and dance.

Saturday 5th August:

11am - 1pm - Live artists performances in the galleries
2pm - 3pm - Live artists performances in the galleries
4pm - 5pm - PERFORMANCE ART INTENSIVE: ARTISTS PANEL DISCUSSION (PART 1)
6.30pm -7.30pm- BODYWORKSHOP: Performance Lecture

    What We Talk About When We Talk About Work | the Whitworth | Manchester

    The final event in the What We Talk About ... series of public discussions will take the theme of ‘Sound and Listening’. Speakers Kaillopi Tsipi-Kolaza (independent curator, Athens) Sam Belifante (artist and curator,London/Leeds) and Jez riley French (artist, Manchester) will each discuss their approach to curating and developing sound works for and inrelation to the gallery context. As part of the evening’s talks SamBelifante and Jez riley French will play a selection of their previous works.
