This version of The 7 O’Clock News / Silent Night reflects a period of particularly intense media activity and political strife. It is a reworking of Simon and Garfunkel’s 7 O’Clock News recorded in 1966; a year in which conflict, civic protest, economic uncertainty and political discord were rife; a period not dissimilar to the one in which we find ourselves now.

Banner’s contemporary reworking of Silent Night / The 7 O’Clock News will take place amongst her exhibition P E R I O D, a new body of work which reflects on the current crisis of language.
