SpazioA presents O froooom O toooo O, the first solo show of the Belgian artist Ode de Kort, in Pistoia. In her practice and as a practise, Ode de Kort is searching for movements which serve as a starting point to navigate through images. By multiplying and repeating actions, different meanings of ‘body’ arise. This balancing act initiates a ceaseless process of making as well as a sensory mode of knowledge.
Her work is the result of an extended relationship with one particular material, which unfolds as a dynamic exchange between three elements: object, camera and subject. De Kort explores the tensions between stasis and movement, two and three-dimensionality, challenging and crossing the boundaries between media and disciplines: photography, sculpture, and choreography.
For this exhibition, the artist provides the basis for an ongoing choreography. A prolonged engagement with a single form results in multiple transformations: from number over sound to object - and back again. In this sense, the works on display show a wayward navigation between photographic, typographic and choreographic entities. It is the corporeal experience of situating oneself in a specific spatial environment that prompts this ongoing transformatory dynamics.
