IT?S ALL DOWNHILL FROM HERE ON, by Filip Gilissen is a public performance in 3 acts, consisting of 2 protagonists. On one side there is a performer wearing a golden sequin suit and carrying a golden vendors tray, announcing the coming of the spectacular event. On the other hand there is a massive illuminated sign hanging from a construction crane, designed to broadcast the truism "It's All Downhill From Here On". Measuring 9.5 x 12 meters and featuring one thousand light bulbs, the sculpture will however only be visible for few hours from sunset till sunrise. Following the spectacular luminescent event, the street vendor infiltrates the city during late night shopping for the length of 3 months. On the market square and the surrounding streets, the performer creates a buzz and sells souvenirs from the lumniscent performance, while spreading the good news, adopting a role somewhere in between a preacher and a street vendor. This event was initiated in 2011, in Brussels and has been performed during Melanchotopia at Witte De With, Rotterdam, during Freestate in Ostend andand Liste17 in Basel in 2012.
